Commonly Asked Dental Bridge Questions

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is false tooth suspended between two other teeth via crowns. They are permanently affixed to the neighboring teeth, and with proper care can last as long as ten years or longer.

There are several different types of dental bridges and Dr. Matin will explain the differences, and which one would be best for you.

What is the process for attaching a bridge?

Dental bridges can be created and attached in two visits. At your first appointment, Dr. Matin will prepare your two neighboring teeth for the dental bridge. She'll remove a small amount of these "anchor" teeth to accommodate for the thickness of the crowns that will be applied to them. Then she'll take an impression of your mouth and send it to the dental lab that will create the bridge and crowns.

In the two weeks or so that it takes the dental lab to make your bridge and crown, you can wear a temporary bridge.

In your second appointment Dr. Matin will fit the crowns on, with the false tooth suspended between them, and do any fine-tuning necessary.

What will be the color of the dental bridge?

The crowns and false tooth will all be matched in color to your natural teeth. If you wish, you can have a Sinsational Smiles tooth whitening procedure before your crown is done, and then Dr. Matin will match the crown to your newly brightened teeth.

How much do dental bridges cost?

The average cost for bridges can vary and will depend on the amount of work done and the type of bridge needed. Generally speaking the cost of a dental bridge ranges starts from $1000 per tooth. Most dental insurance will cover a portion of the cost of a bridge. Please ask us what payment and financing options are available and we'll work with you if your insurance does not cover the full amount.
