Veneers are thin layers of ceramic material that are permanently cemented to the front surface of your teeth. If you have damaged teeth, including crooked, chipped, stained or misaligned teeth, veneers may be the perfect solution to achieve your ideal smile.
Porcelain veneers look like natural teeth and are very durable. They are custom-made for you and color-matched to your surrounding teeth. Designing and placing veneers so they look natural is a meticulous and difficult task so it's imperative that you choose a qualified and specially trained cosmetic dentist to perform this procedure.
The Porcelain Veneer Procedure
Applying porcelain veneers usually takes about a month from start to finish and includes three appointments (aside from your initial consultation).
In your initial consultation you and Dr. Matin can discuss your questions and concerns, and if porcelain veneers are decided upon, you can schedule the rest of your visits.
In your first visit for veneers, your teeth will be slightly shaved down to accommodate the veneer and then a mold, or impression, will be taken of your teeth. Dr. Matin will send the mold to the dental lab and they'll take about two weeks to make your porcelain veneers.
In your third visit, the porcelain veneers will be placed temporarily on your teeth, and adjusted until both you and Dr. Matin are pleased with them. Then they'll be permanently bonded to the teeth, becoming a part of those teeth.
Afterwards, there'll be a follow-up visit to insure that your veneers are fitting properly, bonded correctly and feel comfortable.
No longer will you need to hide behind your hands or avoid smiling in photographs because your new smile will be dazzling and something you can be proud of!
